After six days of working in the desert, Thalié Productions of Canadá,
finished filming in San Luis Rio Colorado the film entitled. "Les Etats
Unis d'Albert".
Previously they filmed a number of scenes in the Dunes Los Algodones in the Valley of Mexicali; now they will return to Québec to continue filming during three more weeks. The film is a French-Swiss-Canadian production directed by the very experienced filmmaker Marc-Andre Forcier.
The
starring role belongs to Roy Dupuis, who was part of the cast of the 2004 Best
Foreign Film Oscar winner "Les Invasions Barbares". The famous actor
shares the marquee with Celine Bonnier, Emilie Deken y Eric Bruno. They worked
in the area known as "Las Jilguerillas", which is located on Kilometer
#168 of the Sonoyta-San Luis highway and where the production company constructed
a clinic/hotel for asthma sufferers and built part of an ancient ship.
"United
States of Albert" is the story of a young French-Canadian aspiring actor
who embarks on an adventure in the United States because of his desire to reach
and succeed in Hollywood. The journey is fraught with mishaps, including falling
off the train in the middle of the desert, rooming with a serial killer and
even meeting the love of his life.
Roy Dupuis who portrays Albert, commented that the film is a love story extraordinarily directed by Marc-Andre Forcier who combines different gendre of the movie industry in his work. He also mentioned that the filming will last another 30 days and afterwards the postproduction work will begin. He added that if there are no unexpected difficulties "Les Etats Unis d'Albert" will open in Canada at the end of 2004 or at the beginning of next year.
The
Production spokesperson Vicent Aird reported that the film has a budget of 4.7
Million Canadian Dollars. Other than the Canadian Producer Yves, there is also
M. Kodsi of France and M. Martin from Switzerland working on the film. And the
set decorator pointed out that 25 Extras from the San Luis area worked on the
film.
